Went last night for dinner just after 6.  Haven't been in a while and wanted to give it another go.  Went to the drive thru, and admittedly, my order was all over the place.  I wanted to try a little of everything.  At the end of the order, I asked the fella what's the best way to get all that?

So it is reasonable that the person taking my order would get upset.

But he didn't.  "I got you.". Was his answer as he giggled.

You could feel his smile through the speaker.

He quickly made sure my order was perfect, and told me to have a great evening.

The food was good (I'd recommend the country fried steak sandwich), and after dealing with people that nice, I will definitely be back.

I actually eaten here a few times. There's usually a line but they get those orders on in fairly quickly in the drive thru - So as far location it's Just a ride down poplar in the Kroger grocery store parking lot. I guess I've been too busy eating to leave a review LOL! Well here goes I would give a five star review however my order was missing THE BEST Gravy I've ever tasted and an order of fries. I always order fries for my toddler he loves fries! And I always get the gravy it is good on everything! I usually smother my chicken in that gravy and then dump the biscuits in that yummy gravy! Oh well maybe fries and gravy next time. The chicken and corn were both tasty.

Lol Jack Pirtle's is trash. And this is a big deal because I'm one that loves fast food inordinately but please just don't come here. I got The Steak Sandwich because it was like one of the ~star~ items on the menu, and honestly was v unimpressed. It's soggy and honestly not very good.

If you love basically eating sauce, this is your burger but if you like any kinda flavor profile to your burger, don't come here. And don't respond to me with a "this is fast food" line, the McDouble has a better flavor profile than this trash. I was just like why am I eating this trash, it's like worse quality than my middle school lunches. The McDouble has better quality than this trash.

If you're just dying to try everything in Memphis, okay, I guess you gotta try Jack Pirtle's. But there is NOTHING to rave about, and this is 100% for sure not the best chicken you can find in Memphis. Jack Pirtle's clearly doesn't care about you, and you and your mouth would do good to not care about Jack Pirtle's. Go to Popeyes.

Not impressive at all. I ordered a two piece dark meat combo with fries. I ordered the fries extra crispy and they came out soggy and greasy. The fried chicken was too salty and NOT crispy. The place is small and dirty, no inside dinning.

Lived in this area all of my life.  Never been to a Jack Pirtles.  Recently a local sports talk radio station had listeners saying you weren't a Memphian if you haven't been.  So one of the host went and didn't seem to be overly impressed.  Listeners told him he ordered the wrong item.  They said try the steak sandwich.  Several raved about this item.  So I'm game, let's go get a steak sandwich and see if the hype is true.  First of all, the location and facilities seem dated.  And yes I looked at their other location's photos on their website and they all looked the same.  The level of service was fine, and the wait wasn't bad either considering everyone talks about not being in a hurry if you go there.  So now the food.....my first steak sandwich combo.  Large sweet tea, fries, and the famous steak sandwich.  The tea was lacking in ice and was a bit warm.  The fries were your basic crinkle cut that you can get at any grocery store.  Crunchy, not much salt, but sufficient.  The generous sized steak sandwich came with cole slaw, dill pickles, brown gravy, and what looked to be a chicken fried steak patty without the crispy crust.  The bun was soggy, but with the gravy, I expected that.  What I didn't expect was the bland taste of the meat itself, and the sour and almost bitter taste of the slaw and pickles.  I finished it for the sake of giving it a fair and complete shot.  Surely most Memphians couldn't be wrong.  Or could they?  Bottom line, it's not for me.  Maybe I ordered the wrong item also, but if this is the star of their menu, I probably have had my last experience with Jack Pirtles.  If you go, I would suggest something basic.  It's a chicken place.  Surely the fried chicken, brown gravy, and biscuits is what has kept them in business for such a long time.  What I do know is that it wasn't the steak sandwich that did it.
